ART CAN SAY THINGS THAT YOU REALLY CAN’T PUT INTO WORDS

Sandra Fretwell was raised in the suburbs of Atlanta GA and has been painting for most of her adult life.  She attended The Art Institute of Atlanta and has received personal instruction from acclaimed spiritual expression artist, Running Bear and acclaimed portrait artist Antonia Krauss.  Believing her art was a private and personal expression she rarely shared her art with others.  After moving to Maryland in 2015, she realized she was ready to share her art with the world.

ART CAN HEAL THE BODY, MIND AND SOUL.

While Sandra enjoys creating a variety of styles of art including landscapes, still-life, and portraits, her favorite form of expression is conceptual.

Her art tends to revolve around nature and the idea of nurturing self, others, and the world and quite often has some underlying spiritual aspect or message.  She creates these images with the hope that they invoke, within the viewer, a sense of their own divinity or divine nature.

“Art can heal the body, mind and soul.  Life is simply a series of transitions from a beginning to an ending which always leads to a new beginning and so forth.  My art is meant to inspire evolution with grace and joy and most of all love.”

MY ART IS MEANT TO INSPIRE

Sandra finds creative inspiration from her own experiences and the world around her. She especially draws inspiration from nature and city landscapes. She credits her amazing husband, family and friends for their support and encouragement.

Sandra’s most common medium is acrylic paint but has been known to use many forms of mixed media to create textures and three dimensional aspects to her work.

Sandra was previously on the board of directors for the Gaithersburg Fine Arts Association, and a member of the Artist League of Germantown, the Montgomery Art Association and the Maryland Arts Council.
